👻 Spooky Season is Here! My Top 5 Halloween Movies

As we dive into the spooky season, I thought it would be fun to share my Top 5 Halloween Movies. Whether you're a horror fan or someone who likes to dip their toes into the world of the eerie, these movies are perfect for setting the Halloween mood.

1. The Exorcist (1973): This classic follows a young girl named Regan who becomes possessed, leading to one of the most famous exorcism scenes in cinematic history. Even after all these years, it remains one of the scariest films out there.

2. Halloween (1978): Michael Myers returns to his hometown to wreak havoc on Halloween night, and thus, the slasher genre was born. The suspenseful music alone is enough to send chills down your spine.

3. The Shining (1980): Jack Torrance’s descent into madness in the isolated Overlook Hotel is unforgettable. Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of Stephen King's novel is a masterpiece of psychological horror.

4. Fright Night (1985): A campy but chilling vampire tale, Fright Night brings a fun twist on the genre, filled with great practical effects and a nostalgic 80s vibe.

5. Pet Sematary (1989): Sometimes, dead is better. When Louis Creed discovers a burial ground with sinister powers, he learns that bringing back the dead isn’t as simple—or safe—as it seems.

These films are perfect for cozying up with on a crisp October night—just don’t forget the popcorn and maybe a blanket to hide under! 🎃

👻 Ghost Stories and Why I Don’t Believe in Them (But Also, Why I Don’t Mess with Them)

Despite writing about witches, dark magic, and the supernatural, here’s something that might surprise you: I don’t believe in ghosts. As much as I love the occult and live in a home that could be described as spirited, I have a scientific explanation for most paranormal experiences (DM me if you want to know more, I’ve got thoughts!). But I’ve had my fair share of freaky moments that I still can’t fully explain.

When I was a little girl, I was terrified of the dark. One night, I reached around the corner to turn on the light in a room, and when my hand touched the switch, someone—or something—grabbed it. I bolted to my parents, but we never figured out what really happened. To this day, that experience makes me shudder.

Then there was the time I was at my babysitter’s house, which was rumored to be haunted. We were playing hide and seek, and I hid in the closet with her. When I looked up, her eyes were glowing red. I know, it sounds ridiculous, but I’ll never forget it because right after that, my tooth fell out (smile emoji). Coincidence? Maybe, but it sure stuck with me!

Now, while I don’t believe in ghosts, I also don’t mess around with Ouija boards. I’m not trying to tempt fate and be proved wrong! And, on a completely different spooky note, I sometimes dream about things that happen later—usually surrounding death. It’s not especially useful, but it runs in my family. Who knows? Maybe we all have a little psychic ability hidden away.

🔮 Big News for 2025: A Niche Fantasy Bookstore is Coming!

Now for some exciting news! In 2025, I’m planning to open a very niche fantasy, romance, and sci-fi bookstore in my hometown! Imagine a space where you can get lost in your favorite books, discover new indie authors, and grab a drink while chatting with other book lovers. It’s going to be a cozy, funky, and relaxed spot, perfect for our quirky town.

Here’s a sneak peek at some of the things I’m planning:

  • Monthly book boxes featuring indie authors

  • Book signings and book clubs

  • Girls’ nights and book tours with other local shops

  • Book formatting and editing services for aspiring authors

I want this place to feel like a community where readers and writers can come together to celebrate storytelling in all its forms. I’m tossing around a couple of names for the shop and would love your input! Right now, I’m thinking of either The Dark Lore Emporium (the same as my TikTok shop) or Beyond the Veil Books. Which one do you like better? I’ll be posting a poll soon, so keep an eye out and let me know!

Thanks for sticking with me through all the spooky, exciting, and magical updates! I’ve got so much more coming your way, and I can’t wait to share the journey with you. Be sure to drop me a message if you want to chat more about ghost stories, Halloween movie recommendations, or if you want to weigh in on my bookstore plans!

Happy Halloween,
